AT Tyres on standard Disco - which ones??

bfg vote here.

Had them on the disco and were excellent. Even towed huge cattering trailers accross muddy fields and I was the only one on bfg at's, everyone else was on muds and I kept up with them all in our duties.

They arent as good on the front of the ranger though but at a guess it will be down to it being 2wd. Couldnt fault them on the disco though and lasted years and years.

Hello guys, just to throw my H'penny in,
if you take a good look at the Grabber AT2's and the BFG AT's you'll see almost the same tyre,
BFG were that far ahead of the rest that Grabber have made a almost identical copy of the BFG AT.

I've ran a whole host of different tyres over the years on various LR's.
I found the Grabbers were very unstable when towing, wall-wobbling everywhere.
I also found that the BFG AT's were better then the BFG MT's in most greenlane situations,
All in all it is down to personal choice on the cosmetics 'coz the BFG AT & The Grabber AT2 are as good as each other on the greenlanes.
The BFG AT has the historical lead but you never get anywhere if you don't try new stuff!
Cheers,

Just to add a thoght regarding tyres. I had Insa Turbo Dakars on my 90, too agresive for green laning and every day use. Now run my 200TDI Disco on standard size Cooper ST,s , price and availability in standard size swayed it for me. Aparantly the Ausy army run there Landys  on Cooper STT,s.

Muddy Hollow:
I've run my Discovery for years on BFG AT's and they do everything I ask of them.  Towing, (Caravan, 5.3m Dive Boat & Trailer Including Launching in some pretty dire conditions), Green Laning, Snow/Ice, Sand, Mud, Grass, Wet & Dry Tarmac.

I fitted BFG AT 225/75 R16's rated at 115/112S Load Range E.

If you are towing regularly or tow heavy trailers etc go for the higher load range "E" rather than the previous load range "D". There isn't a huge price difference, if anything at all.

I would recommend BFG AT's everytime.

Good luck,

Mike.

Devon-Rover:
Saying that it's a shame BFG don't still make the trac edge as that tyre was the best All terrain ever.
