I would just pay the missing two months, but we really need to know what the disc has on it.
I managed to tax a car not registered in the uk ( it was registered in Northern Ireland  ( on English plates)the dealer we bought it from didnt have a clue the log book is almost identical this was only noticed when we tried to put a private plate on it )the local post office sold me a tax disc no problem the DVLA are amazed, but these things happen. We then had to do all the paper work to Import the car and register it in the UK, ( yes I know NI is in the UK) it was just a massive paper trail, the best bit is it was new in England when it was a few years old it went to Northern Ireland but still had the English plates on, so I had to re register an english plated car in England ??????
Oh and the Fee..... it was free!

DiscoDan:
Hi Henry.

Have you asked the previous owner about it? He struck me as a respectable family man and he carried his newborn in the car. How long did the previous owner have the car?

As mentioned above there is a free DVLA check you can do on any vehicle to see what records are held, go to this page and click Vehicle Enquiry.

http://www.taxdisc.direct.gov.uk/EvlPortalApp/

Then you can put in the reg number and make to get the records.

DVLA are well known for being totally inept so it could also be an admin error.

Good luck, Dan

Range Rover Blues:
So have you paid for a year's tax then Henry?

Jas278:
Another bent postmaster,we had one at our local post office doing the same on the ay diddle diddle, he was caught and jailed ..........................They should have then sent him home....get the direction I'm coming from... :-k

BigBlueBeast:
