Jimbo:
I had a W plate - and that did not have difflock, but it did have the all-important 'spigot' on the top of the transfer case, which meant that I could have fitted one of the after-market kits to enable me to use the difflock - but, I never really found a need for it, the traction control got me out of most problems............all other 'situations' required a tow

SLS - when you say how long, do you mean the extra height gained when you press the magic button ? IIRC, SLS was normally only fitted as standard to 7 seaters (all 7 seater D2's should have SLS - was part of the homologation), it was a factory extra on the 5 seaters. SLS is not like the air-sus on P38's, from the button on the dash you can only raise the rear of the vehicle an extra few inches, press the button again and normal height is resumed. You can pay through the nose for an extra button on the key fob, and that gives you the facility to reduce the ride height by a few inches - in theory, to enable you to hook up a trailer/caravan whose hitch is lower than the height of your tow hitch. In both cases, once you drive off and get to 20mph, the vehicle automatically returns to the standard ride height.

ACE - yes, find a quiet roundabout or decent bend and see how the body doesnt roll. A vibrating noise when the ACE activates can be down to a stone lodged behind the ACE valve block, which sits up beside the O/S chassis rail - right under the drivers door.

boss:
the diff lock was an optional extra. my dad payed £250 for one from ashcroft. as i say, we have many parts including a full air system. the CDL is not essential but it IS better than the traction controle if you have both it will be almost unstopable! major advantage in winch challenges as you can essentially enter in class1 (winch, no after market traction aides) and go places everyone else cant! the ace is a very efficient system it is another advantage the D2 has, you can lift it as much as you want(provided the ace rods are extended enough) maintain good road manners but because it all decouples you get massive amounts of axle travel off road with out removing anti roll bars.

SWEETY:
