our TD5 usually gets 25-30 with 200hp running through it. when you do get it i would stay away from autos(something wrong with sensor positions) i would also look into silicone hoses and the egr removal, the hyclone things have also definitively been proven to work on them (by me and my dad) we also have a few bits(well, allot) floating around like 4 18" allots with general grabber at2 on them we also got a 2" lift kit and 2 or 3 ecu replacements(chipped)
over all i rate them very highly.
boss:
also, they are not fitted with difflocks, they took the lug off of the gear boxes to mount them on after 2000 so if your doing alot of offroading get a pre 2000.

IIRC, the last few D2's had difflock re-instated !
I've had an auto D2 for a few years now, it's now done over 108000 miles and the 'box is still fine - regular autobox oil and filter changes has kept it sweet (although LR don't recommend changing the autobox oil until the 80k service !)
Other things to check :-
do the sunrooves leak ?
do all the toys work, leccy mirrors, windows, sunrooves (on some versions), central locking etc
does the ACE work - active cornering enhancement
does the SLS work - self levelling (rear) suspension, if the SLS pump runs (with the engine on) for a long time its an indication that there is an air leak in the pipework, or one/both of the airbags is leaking - about £100 for one bag, easy to change at home.
Is the coolant nice and clean - look for signs of coolant being expelled from the expansion tank, as this may indicate that the head gasket is starting to go.
If you've got anymore questions please ask, I'm sure one of us will be able to answer.

It's 2000 X plates i'm looking at  TBH I thought they all had a centre diff lock  if it has will it be marked on the gear knob ?The ACE am I right in thinking if it's working the truck should be firm in the corners without much body roll ? SLS could you poss tell roughly how long is ok ?
Sorry for all the Q's it's just i've never really had anything to do with Disco's apart from doing some warranty trim work on one when they 1st ever came out
