Vehicle & Technical > Series Land Rovers
1971 series 3
Dave:
Right chassis no 90600480A . so what does that make it a very rare one worth thousands    .
Bob Ajob:
Definitely a Series 3, and an early one, the 480th to be built!
Interestingly (or not) it left the factory as a Diesel, this from CalVIN:
906
Model: Land Rover, Series III
Body type: Basic
Wheel base: 88in
Engine: diesel
Destination: Home market, right-hand drive (RHD)
00480
Serial number
A
Design: Unmodified
I wouldn't say thousands, well, depends how much work you put into getting it back on the road ;)

It would rather be the 480th to begin being built. It would definitely not be the 480th to roll out of the factory as some vehicles were put to one side for special orders or awaiting for other parts to arrive to complete the spec.
Anyway, yes I advise refurbishing it into a relatively tidy and usable Series.

If I had the time money and space I would love to strip it and put it on a new chassis. A tax exempt series 3. Very rare.
Re build I reckon!
Nick B:
I've got a Series III, 1973 (just). It's a 2.6 109. It missed the tax exempt by a couple of months, I think. Chews me up every time I tax it. It must surely be time they had another tax exempt date, wouldn't you say? PLY99L; if you see it around give us a wave.
