MOT Question / appeal

<< < (3/4) > >>

fudge:
The problem with MOT's is that they only represent one persons opinion at a given time! and we are all human! he same tester could pass something he failed the very next day! I vote for the Spanish system, it takes about 3 hours and is done every two years...... its also better IMHO to take the car where the "specialise" in other stuff.... would a Mini specialist really want to "create" work on a Jeep or vice versa!

exactly the problem... because most of the time, they employ monkeys!

last time we came from an mot, our wheels started rubbing on full lock. wierd eh? so i went back and politely said "can you explain this please?" (in a nicer phrase obviously)

"oh we havent done it mate... we dont alter anything at all, its not us.. cant be us."

just said to him "i didnt say it was... i asked if you could explain it!" paranoia? yeah i reckon so. gimps!

edit - by the way, if its a CV joint thats apparently gone, it will click on full lock when cornering at lowish speeds

Hangover:
Either talk to the tester and get him to explain or show you the problem or take it else where and spend another £50,appeals are a waste of time and will dragg on into eternity.

Range Rover Blues:
I have to say MOT testers aren't monkeys.  It's very difficult to get qualified and they have to keep being assesed in order to keep the card, as it is now.

My mate is a tester, in fact he works as quality control for a local testing station, the ministry like to have one person in charge so to speak.

Anyway, he does most of my tests, not because I expect him to pass stuff but becasue I expect him to make sure my car is safe.

Plus he always greases my brake pipes.

But either station I use will always show me what the problem is.

Unfortuanatley I have to say I never let either my wife or sister take a car into a garage if I can avoid it, it shouldn't be that way though should it :(

the local lot around here are! :? yeah we'll fail it for this crater in the chassis, let you weld it... bring it back then fail it on this one that we kind of forgot to mention..... fetch it back another time.... ah its ok now, we'll pass it with a fog light out and a tyre thats low on tread.

ps. i make a point of saying listen sunshine you ARE NOT fixing the things it may or may not fail on... so dont get any ideas!
