FOREST WIRE KITS.... road legal?
mad geordie:
i like them me like wounder where i can get sum?
if you run some1 over they wont get flung up that high anyways if the wire dont get them the truck will if u c my point :P

To the best of my knowledge, they aren't legal for road use.
The other issue with them is that fixing them to the wings isn't really a great idea. On the original Camel Trophy vehicles they were attached between the cage and the bull bar, both reasonably substantial objects.
A couple of M6 bolts through the wing aren't going to take a lot of strain, nor is the wing assembly itself, so unless you have something especially strong to attach them to, then you'll risk causing more damage than you save.

--- Quote from: "Lord Shagg-Pyle" ---I feel sure that there is a law in relation to having having sharp edges or sticky out things that may cause harm e.g the Rolls Royce silver lady.
Then again, if someone gets hit by a large vehicle, its going to cause harm. Damage limitation, I suppose.

The law with regard to hood ornaments applies to manufacturers. There is nothing to prevent an owner from bolting a mascot on the bonnet as many do.
Bulli:
thats suggests that a wire would be a hood ornament which is an argument i dont think the beak would like. They arent legal this has been debated before.
I dont think they are worth the effort either just drive more slowly when there is a large branch and arent we supposed to be leaving little or no damage??
DarrenG:
Actually I'll withdraw my comments! Having just read the relevant Construction & Use legislation it is clear that bonnet mascots as they are known are not permitted unless they are not liable to cause injury.
Similarly the Road Traffic Act provides that any vehicle used on a road with accessories that may cause injury commits an offence. However this section is so wide ranging as to require test in the courts as it could be argued that a prominent winch may fall foul of such legislation also?
