MOT again..... CONTAINS RANTING

£39 a time three MOT's (that's if it passes third time) £117 in MOT fees. Just made me even more pee'd off now I've worked that out.

I might be wrong, but the way I understand it, the 'puter is logged on the the DVLA while the test is carried out and they log how long the test is taking. It is expected that a 'proper' test should be something like 45 minutes, so if a test station regularly undercuts this, they are checked out.
So, because they have to fill the bay, they cannot do anything else while it's happening. So they really have to charge for the full time taken.
MTyrrell:
--- Quote from: "V8MoneyPit" ---I think the new system (computerised) requires a full retest. However, the fact they found different things suggests that either the first tester wasn't being thorough enough, or the second one had had a bad morning!

If I see a flock of very frightened Sparrows hurtling by, I shall know why!

I'd think it was the second tester been bloody minded, Seems to have a reputation for that from talking to the chap with the garage who is doing the work for me. When it failed last year the tester, the one who did it the second time, phoned up that night offering to buy it.
V8MoneyPit:
I should find another MOT station for next year then.

Yeh probably about right, good way to try and stop testers cheating the system.
I wasn't disputing the price of the MOT really, just complaining about the fact that it's going to cost me that before i even have any work done.
Incidentally the chap at the test station mentioned that VOSA were brining back the free retest at the end of august. So if anyone has an mot coming up around then may be worth waiting till the new rule comes in to practice if you think it may fail.

I use my local hgv garage as they will mot it (they have to by law) but wont find faults on it for them to fix as they are not intrested in working on them. so they are pritty good.
