OK, just today returning from my place of employment, I came up behind a new RR Sport, lovely bit of kit they are, we are in a 60 zone, he is doing 40, this is unusual for such a amchine, upon closer inspection...i.e. right beside him, he is chatting on his phone, oblivious to me until I open up the throttle, he had not seen me, or even more suprisingly, heard me.
This pillock gave me an evil look, I tapped his wing mirror.

That was just today, it happens most days and mostly in larger vehicles, but you do have to take into account that I do live in the Sussex area, most vehicles are large and a good percentage 4X4 vehicles.

This is based purely on my own experience of course and is not typical of every bikers experience, I guess I just seem to attract dickheads

I have been turned right on, by peeps on phones, been down to 30mph in 60`s by the same, had peeps just pull over in unsafe places to answer their phones and brake suddenly, they are a menace, there is no consideration shown, it is most discourteous and dangerous.

landraver:
I agree with you that people using mobiles whilst driving are a menace & deserve to get pulled & prosecuted, but personally I have never seen any relationship between 4x4's & phone use, so I have to argue "our" side as 4x4 drivers seem to be the brunt of many unjust allegations at present.

It may suprise you, but I have owned 4X4`s since I was 20.
I have also had 6X6 US Military trucks.
I currently own a Nissan Navara kingcab pick up.
I do though, have to say that most of the stuff levelled at the average 4X4 driver is true.
We are fortunate here, in this forum, that we are enthusiasts and actually use them for what they are intended.
My mind is open to all criticism, it has to be, to enable a degree of structured debate and some sort of challenge to take place to the peeps that would like to see them banned.

To be fair you wouldnt hear your phone ring in mine
