4x4 and phones

jjsaul:
i havnt had chance to read all the posts...but in my opinion there is a difference between using a phone round town and crusing on a motorway.

round town there is far more chance someone will pull out / step out in front of you and you may need both hands on the wheel for a sudden maneouvre, on a motorway / dual carriageway your line of vision is much further and are more likely to see something happen well in advance.
i say this on the idea of driving an automatic (which i do)....you dont use your left hand for anything really anyway other than playing with the radio!

T'Other Arf heard this and told me about it.  We would say it's mostly young female drivers who use a mobile while driving, followed by WVM  and HGV's.  The boy racers wouldn't hear a phone, or anything else, due to the thumping racket from their stereos.    I'd like to get all the ban this, that and the other brigade, along with the PC trouble makers and do gooders and banish THEM to some remote island away from normal, sensible people.

How am i supposed to use it when I can't even here it ring in the Landrover.

Been involved in countless discutions regarding mobile phones and driving.

Would only ever use one hands free and only if urgent.
