Egr blanking plate results

<< < (3/6) > >>

Budgie:
I still get the turbo whistle, but that's maybe from the snorkle?  :?

When I did mine I removed the EGR completely.
You can either do what I did and use the blanking plate to go over the hole left in the exhaust manifold and replace the top intercooler pipe or, get two blanking plates and use one for the exhaust manifold and one for the top intercooler pipe.

A few Photos for you:

The Exhaust manifold with the EGR valve removed and blanking plate in position.

  [bollards] gona check my instructions again cos thats not where i put mine :( looks like i naffed up

Budgie:
Maybe not Keith, the blanking plate can also go in the connection between the EGR valve and the branch pipe coming off the intercooler/inlet manifold.
This will give the same results, blocking the EGR, I just chose to remove the valve completely.

davidlandy:
i put mine between the valve and the pipe rather than onto the manifold, as the bolts where easier to undo!

What I did get was the valve pushing out sooty deposits onto the engine bay.  there must be some kind of relief mechanism in there.

Cal:
Thanks for the pics Budgie - those were exactly like the ones I was trying to find to put in my post originally.

For those of you who have removed the valve altogether, what have you donw with the lead and hose that connected to the valve? At the moment mine are just tucked away down the side of the air filter block. Should I crimp the ends or anything?

When I was driving to day I only had some smoke on start up and hardly any when driving normally (even under hard acceleration) so that appears to be OK now. I popped the bonnet last night and saw that one of the bolts on the blanking plate had cone a bot loose so maybe that was causing the smoke?? Anyway - all tightened up and seems to be OK.

Fingers crossed anyway...  :)
