Does the remote key fob (single button) enable any extra features over locking the door with the key?

Also, does the standard Discovery alarm in a 1994/M immobilise as well as alarm? Or is it just an alarm?

The key just sets the perimeter alarm and the fob sets the same plus the interior sensor alarm.

Mines a 94 M reg and my fob immobilises the engine as well!

Is that a standard LR alarm and remote fob (single button)?

Yep, Bog Standard single button fob.  I know cos I had to call out the man in a van when the damn battery went flat in the fob. Could unlock with the key, disconnect the alarm with a screwdriver but then found that the starter would not turn the engine over. This also meant of course that everything was out of kilter and he did things with batt connections and ignition key and hey presto I was on my way home.
