Freeing the Second battery tray

Damonski:

--- Quote from: "thermidorthelobster" ---The tube that comes out of the airbox - does that actually do much at all?  Is there some sort of filtration bit in the tube as well as the box?  If not you could just take it off.

No just seems to be a big horn shaped thing. If I unclip it I can see right through without problem.

Would there be enough room for air coming in sitting behind the battery?

Is the 300 Tdi airbox the same?  Ive never seen under the Tdi bonnet where does that have the air intake ?

Cheers!

Bulli:
you need to reposition the power steering reservoir , its easy to make a small bracket to relocate it inboard and slightly higher, mine just clears the bonnet. Will post a piccy for you tomorrow.
As for the airbox you can shorten the pick up tube but the best way is that snorkel- that way you can cut it off with no ill effects. It doesnt do anything filter wise but they put it there to stop the airbox getting water as easily.

Great news!

Love to see the picture to give me some more inspiration :)

Trying to convince the keeper of the piggy bank to let me loose with a little handfull of notes ;)

The power steering res. doesnt get in the way of a second battery and can stay where it is, i has on mine.

You know you just want to get a snorkel and solve the problem once and for all...until you think where to put the jack!

Bulli:
Have you fitted a couple of double a's???? considering the pipes and the fact that the reservoir are fastened to the front of the battery tray i'd like to see a piccy- i had to move mine...see pictures below. The reservoir is about 2 inches further back and about 2.5 inches higher ..it JUST clears the bonnet. Hope these help
