New improved speed cameras.
drmike:
I'd like to know why they don't ask for your MOT/Insurance when you send your licence away. Surely that would catch some offenders.
It's revenue pure and simple - with a dash of political expedience.

robbie:
they are fitted on several sequences over Woodhead between Manchester and Sheffield and have been there for a couple of years now.
To be honest, if you dont speed, then you have nothing to worry about
barmiebrumie:
hi, loads of thes wher i live j6 m6, all the way through the road works from j4 through to j12, some of the limits are as low as 40mph,
john.
strapping young lad:
there are loads of websites available telling you where these cameras are
and as for the comment about the mobile ones in vans.
they go there cos they know people speed (notorious one is on the a449 southbound from monmouth to newport) and so want to catch people
every time i see a van on the same road (not on a bridge above) i see a warning sign up to say there is a van
although the sign is quite near the van anyway so by the time you see it its too late.
Hightower:
We've had the SPECS cameras in Northampton for a while now. Defo slows people down, especially as they cover an extended stretch of road.
I agree with Robbie, if you ain't speeding then you've got nowt to worry about. The only people that seem to bemoan cameras are those that want to break the law.
If everybody drove at the limit (perfect world) then there would be no need for the cameras and the cost of maintaining them, or sending the little white van out, would become an overhead to the police and they would be got rid of.
As it is, everybody speeds, and if you get caught, there's no excuse. And while the debate about the police making money still rages on, those that have been caught were breaking the law.
Funny how no-one moans about the CCTV cameras that are appearing in town centres these days . . . . .
