DEBBIE
old joe:
I get to hear all the horror stories about good and bad Drs and hospitals yet when i had my appendix removed last year I can't rate the NHS highly enough.
I called NHS direct, nurse called my back within 20 mins advised me to get the OOH Drs and not to drive, got in a taxi walked straight in they then sent me down to MKGH A&E they wanted to call an ambulance for a trip off 200 yards i said no longest 200 yards i've walked and went in to A&E at around 12:00 am and there was my ex-wife waiting to be seen i was taken straight round to a cubicle and by 4:30 i was in the ward 11:45pm i was having my appendix out.
to say i was scared was an under statement but the care i recieved was beyond the call of duty for the nursing staff overworked and underpaid same with the DRs they made feel relaxed and noting was to much trouble.
I can't praise them enough the only problem was not being able to drive for a week.
however in all place's you get good guys and bad guys and all i can say if you're not happy ask for a 2nd 3rd opinion and don't stop until you're happy and satisfied even if it means going to the top.
just glad you're feeling Better Bob
Dazza :D
P.s. Top tip don't upset you're Nurses they're your best friends and can make you suffer if you upset them in the nicest possible ways
Bush Tucker Man:
I know there's good & bad in the NHS, as there is everywhere.
On a personal note, I must admit a partial amount of bias towards the NHS,as it employs me.
I must say that I'd trust most of our departments senior staff; Staff Grades, Registrars, Specialist Registrars & (most certainly) the Consultants with my life
Other Side Of The Fence
dracula:
Like BTM I am biased towards N.H.S. 'cause they pay me.
Don't have any trouble with G.P'S....my wife is a receptionist at the surgery.
Only problem....when she comes home in tears/distressed state 'cause
some irate patient has decided to vent his/her spleen at her over a
situation that she can not control or do any thing about.
Rant over :(vamp):

At the Surgery where I went as a kid, the receptionist there must have survived an attack by StGeorge.
Ooh, she was evil

Tell me about it...
The patients in our A&E can vary between the little old lady who cut a finger off whilst peeling vegetables, but says;
"I'm sorry, but I don't want to trouble anyone"
To the drug-addled 20year old who's been found on a corner (or in some cases slumped over the wheel of a car!!!!)who wakes up and creates mayhem & ends up on the floor with all the male staff 'controlling' him
Then gets dragged away by the Bobbies only to 'fall' into the back of the van.
It's not too long since one of our Nurses was punched in the face & throat by a drunken girl (who, I think) is now in jail :D
Not a weekend goes by without someone being abused in one way or another
Then we had, the ultimate, a few years ago.
It was well before I worked there, but plenty of my collegues remember it.
I know the person who found them.
A patient went to see 2 of the Plastic Surgeons about having some tattoos removed, he was told that he couldn't have them done on the NHS (at that time anyway)
So what did the b*st*rd do??
He stabbed both the initial Consultant, & the other one who walked into the room.
Sadly he's got 'the life of riley' now in Broadmoor.
String the swine up!
Hardly politically correct, but it's my own view.
