Right, as an ex techie I would say that you have corrupted your sound drivers when you video card installed its drivers automatically, however all is not lost thanks to the joys of WinXP.

Click Start -> Help & Support -> Undo Changes to My Computer Using System Restore.

Then restore your computer back to a point in time prior to you installing your video card.

Once thats done then download and install the correct manufacturers drivers for your new video card and all should be well.
