Hi All, help after fitting a new video card my computer has stopped making sounds,

everytime I boot up and get to the welcome screen (XP) a box comes up telling me that "mplayer.exe" has had to close.


Help please.

Mplayer.exe is the Windows Media Player program. It sounds like it is trying to execute during startup. Not sure this should happen. Try running the WMP program from the start menu. Does it run OK?

There are some viruses that rename this file and then copy themselves to mplayer.exe. Might be worth updating your virus scanner and running a full system scan just to be safe before you do anything else.
