I want to buy a TD5
brianb:
Thanks for the info. Will have a look at those breathers at the weekend, its way too dark when i get home from work. im not intending doing any water crossings just yet....though there are some big puddles in my street at the moment
Excellent tip on the door seals, i would never have thought of that. Not that i want to do anything that deep but how watertight is the car in deepish water. I've seen the clips of defenders etc where they are opening the doors to let the water out is it that bad on the discovery 2 ?

all i can say from my experance is that when i went in some water about mid headlight deep (any deeper than that and you will need to look into a snorkel and moveing the ecu to a higher place as they hate water) for about 1/4 of a mile i took inside about a pint of water after i sealed the gaps in the doors up but the week before i took on about 10 gallons with the seals split so thats well worth doin
but with it taking water inside it has a good point they dont float yea a 2.2t landrover will float for a time
another thing the front fog lamps can fill up with water too.
just another thought as well if its got a tow bar on the back lose it befor goin off road as they just catch everything

Right off to buy some black silicone
Im going to loose the front bumper as its way too low and the spotlghts are rubbish anyway. Just not shure at the moment what to fit as there is a lot of choice.
Is that really a tow bar on thew back  I thought it was a plough as it soooooo big. I saw one on another site, cant remember where but it was a fairly low prile towbar with a hitch that sort of fitted into a square hole and the guy could swap that for a recovery eye, i like the look of that so will keep my eyes open for one of those if i can get it cheap.

there are a few nice bits n bobs on devon4x4 website but its not cheap i think there winch bumper is about 450 quid were winchsolutions do quite a nice winch bumper for the front for about 270 quid looks prity much the same as the devon one
you can seeing as you still have the bumper in one pice cut it down
ive heard a few people doin it i think were they seam to cut it down is on the line just above the front fog lamps and that takes away the risk of smashing them up cheap solution for the min but at the end of the day
i think metal is the only way to go on a 4x4 they arnt right friendly to people anyway so a bit of metal wont make much difference lol
