Disco-andy:
Of you are going for proper long overland stuff , I'd look at disco 3's from what iv seen my mates do in them they are unstopable off road and a dream on road.

Have you been out and driven both 300 and a td5 yet?

For light off road d2 will cope, and for long roads be comfatable

for off road a d1 can be made very capable , I'm not sur it gets close to a td5 auto  for every day long drives

Jas278:
My TD5 goes anywhere anything else will...

Disco-andy:
With the same kit a d1 vs d2. I'd bet on the shorter wheel bace, shorter overhang every time.

But a standard d3 now that is amazing to watch, only time I seen one realy stuck (not just badly driven) it had all 4 wheels off the ground even when it put it's self in supper extended mode.

Jas278:
Your welcome to come out sometime....believe me ... mine gets used for some pretty extreme trips , I ve had D1 s 200 and 300 , would nt go back , as for A D3 yes good bit off kit , but far too complicated for extreme fun ....

Writing it's been as far as Japan sounds so much better than it's been as far as Stoke on Trent!
