You could use a camera if it was close enough with good lighting you would get a reasonable image.

Take your steering wheel off and stick nails up under the seat covers BUT dont forget about them :doh:
Drive into your driveway dont reverse, fit a reverse bleeper bulb, leave an important but vital engine/gearbox part next to the car ( an old scrap bit) they will think its under repair and not drivable.

Make sure you insurance policy is upto date, all modifications are delaired and you've not put it down as being garaged if it's on the driveway / road.
Also tell the police. It's only a tip off and it might be a mate winding you up, but they might also be looking for a gang who are stealing to order and a honey pot is all they need.
It they want to steal your car there is nothing you can do to stop them. What you can do is damage limitation.

do you have a driveway? if so i'd put it as far back as you can and get a security post to go in front of it.
This is a nice bright yellow deterant, and coupled with a steering wheel lock and alarm should put most people off. ;)
Its a lot more difficult if you cant get it off the road. :sad:
Only other option is DIY tracker using an old mobile phone, and web-based tracking service (trace-a-moble?) that way you can find out where it is yourself and go find it with a group of mates/big dogs/ big sticks and get it back if it does go for a walk...
Don't expect the police to be of much help... they were useless when i lost 15 grands worth of TD5 110... which was nicked by Pikeys, and as we know, the Police don't bother with Pikeys... :evil:
