any more ideas would be good,
ha i got a baesball bat near my front door aswell

Lord Shagg-Pyle:
For a start, I'd get your mate to do an anonymous call to crimestoppers with the details of the scrotes if possible.
Then I'd get hold of some heavy chain, and lock it to something visible on the disco and another heavy object.
Remove the battery, kill switches are good options.

There are other methods that I know of, but I sure as heck ain't going to post them on here

Disco Matt:
If it's petrol, take the HT leads out and maybe the rotor arm. For a diesel, you can make a very effective and almost impossible to find immobiliser by putting a removable link in the low tension feed to the starter solenoid. If you arrange it carefully it will just look like a spare connector on the wiring loom to anyone other than you.

If you have a newer car with better security, park that in front to block yours in. Don't leave keys lying around in the house - either keep them with you or get a concealed safe.

A driveway that is a swine to get into helps. I heard about someone who had their Disco pinched by means of a Hiab crane, if you arrange matters so that a truck can't get anywhere near where you park then you should be safe from that.

I would suggest CCTV but consumer ones never seem to have a high enough resolution to positively identify suspects. If you have a decent digital camera then keep it handy - if you see or hear anyone sniffing about then get plenty of good photos (the flash is likely to scare them off) and pass to Police. You may well find that their reaction is "We're aware of those individuals"!
