Which budget winch

(1/3) > >>

carls200tdi:
I'm looking at getting a winch for the front of my rangie but i'm on a tight budget the choices seem to be
britpart 8000 or 9500
t max 9000 or 9500
superwinch lp8500 currently on ebay less than £300
I know if i go for for the 8000 or 8500 i may have to use a double line pull but which would be more suited for a rangie thanks carl

KingWolf:
I'll be watching this thread with interest as I'm in exactly the same position. Although at the minute I'm leaning towards the Superwinch 8500 as I know it's a decent make. I've never needed to use one 'yet' so a double line pull wouldn't really bother me too much. but then I start thinking would I be better off paying some more and have a EP9 as these are tried and tested and have a good following..!!!!! The more I think about it the more confused I get.......lol.

I know what you mean about the confusion i probably wont use the winch much but the last time i went offroading with my brother in law we both got stuck and ended up digging. It's one of the things to have even if it's not needed you never know.

robert francis:
hi mate, id steer towards superwinch, but look at winchsolutions they do champion winches at a reasonable price,

they have a good service im happy with my winch

clbarclay:
The best budget winch I've come across and used was a hi lift jack. Even now I have an EP9 on the front of mine the Hi lift still gets used ocasionally. With the right mind set they don't take that long to do the job. The same goes for the effort required to use them, You could easily waste more time and energy complaining about using one that actually spend using one

Regards electric winches then I would save up and got a Goodwinch TDS as they not much more expensive that the T max or Britpart by the time you have take VAT into account and seem to have devolpoded the same reputation the EP9 has, but with a higher specification. The T max winches I have experianced worked well enough, but were on the slow side. I've no direct experiance of the Bripart winches, some of there stuff has been fine, but some of their stuff has been less satisfactory.

Superwinch, Goodwinch and Come up are the brands I would look to first for cheaper electric winches.
