the girlfriend just bought 2 russian hamsters.....

i am not to botherd about that but do hamsters actually do anything? there just sitting in the nest box doing [!Expletive Deleted!] all! i saw a gerbal(i think) at the kennel and that thing was mental! it looked like a cross between a squirrel and a rabbit and everey now and then it would wake up and run around its cage and spazz out in its sand bath......our hamsters......nothing!

are they all like this?

Ours had us trained,  if he heard me or the missus pottering about he'd run to his food bowl and sit there looking cute till he got a treat.

Other than look cute, wee, run a lot in wheels and do a passable impression of a choose your own buffet lunch for cats they don't do much especially not during the day, they are nocturnal (ish) after all

I have two hamsters called sugar and spice ( one white,other ginger). Get them a wheel and they will drive you mad.
Hamsters tend to come to life at night. Also get them a exercise ball,great fun watching them roll around in them.
Whats even more fun is when somebody accidently kicks one and they spin out of control across the floor. ;)
My old hamster could climb the stairs  :lol:

my son had a hamster called gnasher (he reads the beano) and that one was excellent fun it was so tame it would sit on your shoulder while you went round the house :D

my uncle and cousin have got one each, instead of a ball for running round the carpet theyve got cars with a wheel drive and a hamster land that my uncle built, complete with ariel runway.
