Anyone know how big a job this is?  My 110 with a tdi in now screams its conkers off at 60mph and I am led to believe this is the best way forward.  How much of a nitemare is it?

I take it I have to drop the box right off?  Any way it can be done in situe?

Oh and, anyone got one they want to sell nice and cheap??

J.D.:
Got a Discovery transferbox in Winchester. £55. Best way is undo the bellhousing bolts, undo the props, undo the gearbox crossmember, handbrake cable and speedo cable.

Stick a trolley jack under it and lower it down. Be careful when you split the two boxes and put them back together and renew the seals when you do.

u can change transfer box in situ but if using a disco one u have to change the handbrake bracketry as it different i believe but i do have a v8 defender transfer box in my garage which is a 1.4 which is good an remember a 1.2 ratio transfer box will leave the car under powered if the 110 has over sized tyres ive got a 1.4 ratio transfer box with 200 tdi thats been tweaked with 33 inch tyres an will happly go down motorway doin 75 80 if needed without the engine screamin

i can confirm that it was soooo well worth doing. i had the same issue after having my tdi fitted. it was like a go cart to 50mph

i put mine into http://conqueror4x4.webeden.co.uk/ in the evening and it was ready for collection the next afternoon. nick there was brilliant from start to finish of the job. i think he might have a disco in that he is breaking now so maybe give him a shout too

my economy improved loads too

So it can be done in situe then?  I have access to the pit / transmision jacks etc at work so I wont be on my back...  Looks like I need to find a disco transfer box nice and cheap then!

Im in St helens, so if anyone local ish has one to sell???  And I know what u mean about the go kart thing, goes like stink but is far too low geared!  Doing the Mac 4x4 in under 2 weeks.  not going to have time to sort it out before then so I think i might just invest in some ear plugs...
