Twin shocks
wizard:
Hi have twin shocks front and back on my 200 Tdi disco.
I put on a set of Bearmach extra heavy duty rear springs and heavy duty front springs about 8 years ago.
At that time i was carrying a lot of tools in the truck and the springs did the job of lugging all the weight about.
Since then i put on a front winch and winch bumper, and dont carry half the amount i used to in the rear so i went for twin Pro Comps on the rear which have taken the harshness out of the springs, its still a bit to firm on the rear but better than it was.
I have twin OME on the front which seem to be working just as well.
I junked the front anti roll bar but kept the rear. Body roll is kept to a minimum for a truck with 5 inches of lift, but then i dont drive like i have stolen it.

I've always been facinated by people who say that fitting twin shocks means you don't need anti roll bars. Ford tried it in 1967 with the MkI Escort. In 1968 it was launched with the Capri front axle, including a nice htick anti roll bar

what relevance does this have to the blokes question? was the mk 1 escort an offroader? NO!!
in answer to the question yes i have done the twin shock thing with pro comps on my last disco and loved it, handles better on road and you can be more "enthusiatic" driving offroad without so many harsh bottom outs
the twin shock mounts i fitted were paddocks and were not a straight forward fit as i had to cut the front inners to clear them and also lift the header tank a little, you will only need very minor trimming if you havea body lift though
But........i have actually changed back to single 11" ome shocks with gwynn lewis extended turrets
:)

Thx all for your replies, i think i will go for the twin set up as my front axle does get alot me abuse than most,
My next question is has anyone got or use a rear swivel mount on there shocks and what are they like, i;e do they help?
