WARNING if you have NFU insurance...

If a vehicle is being used off-road (on other than a vehicular right of way) - then usually it isn't insured at that time (this would apply to pay and play sites etc). But once it gets back on the road, all should be fine and dandy and you're insured again.
Are the NFU really saying that if you venture off-road it invalidates your insurance permanently? Shocking if that is the case!

Mine is insured with the NFU, 35" tyres, winch along with bumper, rock sliders and a fridge freezer in the back. It is insured EVERYWHERE, but is not covered for competition, as useal with all farm 4x4s.

But what about if you're on a green lane and on a side slope a Land Rover takes a bit of a tumble causing a dent down one side?
AFAIK a green lane is classed as part of "The Queen's Highway" isn't it?
That's a bit scary really as I was considering a quote from NFU on my Disco as my current insurer want £2,500 as I'm going to be starting a fresh policy on my own pretty soon, I was on my own before but to start with I had my 416 insured with eCar and was paying £1,600 for it then when the 416 was wrote off my dad loaned me his wagon (the Disco...now mine!) and because I only changed the details it came to an extra £53(ish) on top of my old quote...but because I'm going to be starting a new policy with the Disco they've decided to rape me!
Any ideas on who is good for a young driver (nearly 23) on a Disco 2.5 200TDi with a 2" lift, 31x10.50R16 tyres, snorkel, heavy duty steering bars, etc?
skip2:
NFU use different offices call one and they tell you something, call another and they tell you something else completely different !
Things they told me in the past include, Not covered for "greenlaning", not covered if I've competed in a trail, not covered if I join a response group. This from an insurance company whose office which once sponsered an ALRC club !, and meant to be covering "farmers" who often get "muddy vechicles", compete in "trails" and drive "greenlanes".
Most of the time reckon make it up as they go, along finaily give up with them when a fellow club member got his 17 year old son who was still a learner on a named policy but refused me (with son) us couple of weeks later, asked them why and told they had made a mistake in accepting cover for those under 21 without a full lience.
