WARNING if you have NFU insurance...

(1/5) > >>

Smego:
Just tried to get a quote for my Surf with the NFU but was told if the vehicle is used a lot off road their policy will become invalid, I said "ok so it is not then" but she said if I had an accident on the road and they saw it was dirty had a winch (declared) and mud terrains (declared) they would consider NOT paying out!

CRAZY!!!

carracarra13:
Thanks for the heads up m8

blackbeltbob:
when i treid to get the NFU to insure my defender they would if it was only used off road on my own land but on anyone elses they would not cover it.
land rover would not touch it either due to the modifications done to it for off roading

V8MoneyPit:
Bizarre, isn't it? National Farmers Union won't insure a vehicle for the use it's intended for. So what do farmers do when they have a winch equipped 4x4 and want to use it on someone elses land?

I can understand the likes of Direct Line or other mainstream insurance companies not liking off road use, but you would expect the NFU to understand.

Eeyore:
Would it be possible to have some clarification on what was said by the NFU office?

If a vehicle is being used off-road (on other than a vehicular right of way) - then usually it isn't insured at that time (this would apply to pay and play sites etc). But once it gets back on the road, all should be fine and dandy and you're insured again.

Are the NFU really saying that if you venture off-road it invalidates your insurance permanently? Shocking if that is the case!
