Up-grading 300tdi

<< < (2/4) > >>

Budgie:
The cheapest/best increase you can do is to turn the injector pump diaphram 90° clockwise, from the LR standard setting, and put the top back on.
Bags more power, takes 5 minute and costs nothing.  ;)

Adding another standard intercooler into the system may help but you have to watch where it's mounted as you don't want to block the air getting to the radiator. The standard intercoolers are much thicker than the ones built to fit in front of the rad and will reduce the airflow.
I know some have fitted a TD5 intercooler, from a scrappy, and that seems to work quite well.

Except most of the auto's are fitted with EDC which would be better suited to an upgrade on the ECU?
Not sure but I think tweaking the pump on these is a no-no without causing issues with the electronics.

I think the order you have listed it is best, EGR removal is fairly simple as long it has no detrimental effect with the EDC (assuming it's fitted), remap is waste of money if you upgrade the intercooler afterwards.

Best course of action would be to give the tuning companies a call and have a chat with them, Jeremy Fearn, Allisport, Allard etc. - they'll probably tell you similar things but with different prices

J.D.:
Got a standard intercooler for sale (well 2) you can have for a tenner each. For the pipework I woud get some silicone hoses, which arent that expensive.

Disco Matt:
Has anyone tried fitting twin standard intercoolers to a Disco with air conditioning?

Steve ray:
Pity you're not in the midlands, I'd have put you in touch with 'Big Stu' at CME (formerly Autopower) at Rugeley and let him 'fettle' it for you  ;)
