Hi / Low Gear Selector

Hi All,

I have a problem with the Hi / Low gear selector in my 83 200tdi.

The lever moves back and forth quite freely, so freely in fact it feels like it's not connected to anything.

And surprise, surprise nothing does happen.

If moved to the left the difflock light comes on and the whole car dives differently so am assuming that
that bit works.

Any suggestions on where to start looking first. Are there any common problems that cause this to happen?

if you check on top of the transfer box there should be two connections the one at the front iirc is for the difflock and the back one is for the high/low and is a bar with a clip on it just check it's still connected.

Daft question time - Do I check this from under the car or from the top inside the car (if you know what I mean)

under it's a bit more of feel then look :lol: just get a good torch, there is a bit of a shelf going from the gearbox to the transfer so looking from front to rear. the front one has a small nut on, i think!
