simdeb:
i would be more interested in the sporting events if i didnt have to pay through the nose to teach my kids to swim, they took the swimming lessons off school children put more effort into football cricket ect but if they fall into water they would have no chance, only if the football would float!  when the gov does put things in place i.e every year 6 pupil to obtain 25 metres before they leave junior school mine miss out because we paid for swimming lessons for them and they can swim!!!

the other thing that gets me is they only praise the 'winners' but what about everybody who took part??????

thats my moan about it over,  its not everybodys cup of tea, not really mine but i do think about them taking part and how proud their family must be.

MuddyMike:
I think the opening ceremony should be no more than a parade of athletes with all the money that would have been spent on Fireworks or whatever sent to the Chinese earthquake fund.
