What return can i expect?
Jonny Boaterboy:
It's all about how you spend your money...... I don't drink, (alot!) I don't have a T.v. so rather than leaking my money up the wall or wasting it on watching crap on T.v......... I burn fuel!
I have just lately been getting 18MPG out of my 1994 3.9v8 but since I have starting sharing lifts into work I can justify Burning a bit more fuel.... makes no sense I know, but if you work on about 16MPG that's about right
Range Rover Ron:
As RRC's go the 3.9 V8 is probably the best when talking economy.
My mate can get just over 20 MPG if he drives carefully.
Normal driving he's getting about 15 -18 MPG.
Heavy right foot syndrome will get him just out of single figures if he's lucky!
Cheers........
Range Rover Blues:
Andy, it can't be any worse than my LSE. Just spare a thought for me every time you stop to fill it up.
With a decnet LPG conversion it will cost about the same as running a TDi, with far more grins per mile. I reckon the LSE costs up to 20p/mile depending how I drive. I think it might want a new cam though, excessive guel consumption is an early symptom of cam wear.
If you are getting a softie, make sure everything works, the cruise, the EAS, the roof and the windows. EVERY PART is different and getting good S/H parts is impossible. Even the leather seats are different.
carracarra13:
well we just bought a 1990 3.9 rr already gas converted mot 12 mo0nths n0 tax (lumpy was a good price as in cheep) and trust me gas is dog cheep to run, 120 miles out of £20 worth of gas ( but don't forget gas is 53-60p per leater) so I can still run our v8  it is our every day motor
but if you hammer them you will use more like any truck
Range Rover Red:
RRB shook me warmly by the hand when I managed 200 miles on one tank of petrol in my old V8. The old boy averaged about 16 mpg on petrol and 12 mpg on gas after the conversion. The gas pump at the local garage felt like my second home and when I took it on holiday a couple of years ago I had to fill up EVERY DAY. I've got a TDi now and only had to fill up twice when we went to Wales last summer. Head says diesel, but heart says V8.
