None of it makes any sense to me, I'm afraid. If you want to go fast you buy a car, if you want to go off road you by an off-roader.

The thing is, there are plenty of high performance estate cars out there at way less money than these souped up Range Rovers. They are quicker, handle better, do more mpg, cost less on insurance, carry pretty much the same clutter in the back, and don't attract attention from the 'do-gooder' obsesives who think 4x4's are killing the planet.

Now, I would never suggest that people shouldn't be driving the high perfomance 4x4's. I believe in personal choice. But I just don't understand why they appeal over other vehicles which are technically better in so many ways.

If I had £75k hanging about, I think I'd have a Mercedes C63 AMG estate and keep the £20k change.

very true - agree completely

I would like an Audi RS4 or 6.

i hate 'body kits' added to cars

performance mods are fine

things like my GC can be improved beyond belief at relatively low cost but a massive improvement over the stock vehicle with regards to performance and handling

a few price guidelines

a) Edelbrock IAS performance shocks - UK supplied (to get lifetime warranty) and fitted about £550

b) upgraded front brakes - caliper mod - ventilated discs - £360

c) K& N filter - £50

d) engine remap - £250

e) new exhaust - due soon - about £500 fitted - but it will be s/s and uk supplied with full lifetime warranty

I don't see the difference beetween fitting flared arches and ground hugging bumpers to rr sports and fitting flared arches and winch bumpers to offroaders they are all body kits just for different uses ....

as for estate cars I think the only one I've seen that looks the part is the volvo t5 estate all the rest look wrong when squared off at the back.

the volvo works because its pretty square all over

And as said before it's all down to personal choice . I love my lifted Disco , But I also like the look of some kitted and lowered 4x4's .

the fact that it can go both ways with a Rangerover is cool . Imagine what a mess a Merc c63 amg would look running on 265/75's with a light bar and winch bumper [-X
