Straight through pipe - legal ?
Gav_T:
My v8 disco have only got the cats on, the rest is straight through with a side exit. Sounds sooooo much nicer than the 300 tdi it was on last :afro:
Gavin.

I suppose a diesel through a straight through pipe would sound infintely better than a dustbin sized rear box on a 1.4 Saxo.
HiFonics:
A tuned TD5 with straight through pipe sounds like this

On my 90 I had the same exhaust system but with a silencer as I was advised the setup in the video was a bit noisy to live with.

That TD5 sounds just like one of the tractors at the farm, just slightly higher pitched!

I cant remember what the date is, but im 99.99% sure that vehicles manufacturer after a certain date MUST have a CAT fitted to pass an MOT, EVEN IF it passes on Emissions, technically a visual check must be made to see if its in place. That said I know a few people with Elises that have never had a problem!
Can anyone confirm that date?
You can just knock the middle out of a duff cat, I had to do that at a race last year when my cat blew apart in practice. Looks like a cat form the outside but no restriction on the inside.
