we are the only country that seems to bring wounded enemy fighters over here for medical care, then give them compensation for being injured while trying to maim and kill our own troops. Add to that we seem to fund there legal costs just so they can then sue the military.

But when a serviceman is crippled, they get £250,000 at most and lose there job! with the no investigation or legal action aginst the enemy.

the whole legal system is backwards, we have too many ivory tower do gooders with no idea of reality.

Off topic I know but does anyone think the fact that he has landed a job as a "consultant" to a major Forensics services provider, who will be providing a service to the police force he just left is just a little bit suspect??? and a wee bit old boys network.

It could be seen that way, but think about it logically. Unlike the Government, the Business community in the UK does have its head screwed on. If you need someone to run a business that provides a service to the Police, why not employ an ex-Police officer? They already have the knowledge to do the job, whereas the Government stance is to put someone in charge of a department who has no clue at all about the workings of said department, and therefore is a waste of money.
Saying that, a Chief Constable is a political post now anyway. Its very rare that you actually see one away from their desk. If they are, it usualy means they are lost on the way to the coffee machine.
Replace them with some Business World bosses, and get rid of some of the dead wood and apply business logic, like every force uses the same equipment, computors etc etc. That would stop the current farcical situation of 43 forces in England and Wales all going in different directions, and would save millions for the tax payer.

hmm, you could end up regretting having one IT service provider. We are slowly being taken over by a civvy company, the restrictions put in place on the IT footprint, access to the machines storage devices and ports and server space will cause a lot of problems. Will cause people to be restricted to certain workstations. But time will tell if it is able to save money in the long run.
