TD5 auto green lights M+S flashing

Well I got it back from the dealer today. It puts it in second gear apparently (limp mode).
The problem was a faulty gear selector switch which unfortunatley is not a DIY job as it needs matching with the electrickery, presumably via the test book. A pricey day with dealer labour prices, even with their allegiance discount ???
However the gear selector feels a bit better now - a bit more firm to the touch, so hopefully all will be well.

Hmmmmm, I think limp home mode is 3rd gear - but the stealer is *always* right !!
mike142sl:
Where did you hear it was third?. Second would seem more likely :-k, it certainly felt like second to me the first time it did it, plus it would be a tall order in this part of Sheffield to hill start in third .

My RAVE cd IIRC !
Yep, found it -
Mechanical limp home
In the mechanical limp home mode, gear engagement is controlled by the manual valve. The gearbox is fixed in 4th
gear if the fault occurs while the vehicle is moving, or 3rd gear if the fault occurs while the vehicle is stationary. 3rd
gear is also engaged if a vehicle is brought to a stop and the selector lever is moved out of, and back into, D. Neutral
and reverse gear are also available.

Fortunately with mine, the battery was disconnected and reconnected and the fault, for the time being, has not returned.
