TD5 auto green lights M+S flashing
mike142sl:
On a few occasions recently I've noticed the green lights flash when I start the engine which indicates a fault with the transmission system - and it sticks in first. The manual suggests turning the engine off and on again which has cured the flashing. However today it took several attempts so I suspect it's a trip to the dealers next week.
Has anyone else had this, and if so what did it end up being?
Thanks

I had this when mine failed to start. In the end I changed the battery and there has been no repeat of the problem

I've had this a few times - although mine goes into 'limp home mode', which means the 'box sticks in 3rd. I noticed it more when starting to pull away on cold mornings - if I change from D to R too quickly, the 'box throws a wobbler. My guess is that on cold mornings, the ATF is a bit thick (is that possible ?) - I guess the other possibility is that the oil pump in the 'box may be a bit weak.
The Disco's in for the 108,000 service today - getting a new autobox filter fitted in case it's just a bit crudded up.

It does seem to be related to changing to R, especially just after setting off. But on Saturday it happened when the engine was warm and it took several attempts to get rid of it.
