TD5 auto green lights M+S flashing

I had a similar reprieve when my battery was replaced a few months ago. Of course as the problem turned out to be the selector switch it was purely coincidental and the problem returned after a several weeks, eventually getting worse to the point where turning it off didn't clear the fault.
