The time has come
Range Rover Blues:
I thought about it very serioulsy too, the samll amount we use each car makes it a joke to have to tax them.. Road tax should be abolished anyway, the amount the Gov't rakes in in fuel duty is a disgrace, if they did away with road tax it wouldn't punish people for owning 2 cars and driving the most appropriate one.

i was finding it very hard to find the money to pay for fuel as im only a student and i have to save up for the landy rally so i get used cooking oil and stick it through my secret filter that works out at about 2p per litre and mix it 50/50 just hoping the fuel pump doesnt give up
heres a hint for people thinking of doing the same, cooking oil from indian restuarants is much easier to filter than chip shops and it smells better from the exaust  ;)
cheers kieran

I too have thought about giving up the disco but I have now done the veg oil conversion and run it on 100% new rapeseed from tesco. It makes it alot cheaper to run.
the daily runner the rover 620 is the same price as the disco to run on fuel now the conversion is done but is alot better on long journeys. I have had to fork out £800 recently for the mot and exhaust. The biggest bill in 9 years but it is things that needed to be done.
Lady at work has a ford fusion diesel and her road tax is £30 a year. If only I could afford one! Anyone got enough money to lend me minus £200 I will get for the rover to buy one? It is a viscious circle. Not enough money to buy a cheap low emmisions car so buy something older and have to pay more tax and fuel to run it.
As someone else said, it will only be the rich who have cars soon.
