Wheels and tyres?
Sabo:
Thanks for info, any ideas on prices and where to go to.
I take it that 33x12.5 = 33" high by 12.5" wide and 255/85 = 10" wide and 33" high.
does anyone have problems with wheel arche catching and obviously the speedo would need a few stickers on it!
cheers
Dave
The wife cought me out, loves the look of the Orange one but I don't like washing my car and I think these might make it a bit muddy - but I must compromise with the boss!
L90OOK:
With 33"tyres your defender speedo will be reading approx 10% to slow...i.e. you will be going faster & further than speedo mileometer reading.
Try THESE for tyres. Give them a call for best price ;)
electricbluebadger:
265 is 10" wide so 255 is almost....
255/85 x 15's are almost 31.5" high
255/85 x 16's are almost 32.5" high (oddly enough :) )
but yep admittedly It does need a wash a bit more than regular tyres :) but its worth it (thats 2 washes a year it now gets :)
Cheers Steve

--- Quote from: Sabo on January 20, 2008, 17:51:34 ---I recently put a 2" lift on my 1986 110 CSW. For general use I have old 235/85 R16 AT's. When I go on Greenlaning/offroad I swap then for 265/75 R16 MT Macho greenway - very noisy and rubbish on tarmac in RAIN! Might want to change permantly to one set of tyres and thinking of larger ones, any ideas?????
Shush - the wife is on the phone!

haha, to me the macho's are road biased tyres!!! my mate runs them on his disco and they barely make any noise and are great in the wet, just not so good off road. try running a proper MT and you will find out what real road noise is! it doesnt bother me.

I can't agree about machos - I had a set on my bobtail and I regret not getting more when I got the 90 where I fitted diamonds. They work well on road and seem a very compromise off road. I quite agree they're not as good as some Simex etc. but then if you're looking at a compromise then I'd say the Macho was pretty damn good.
The best tyres I ever had were macho pattern from recip - quite a soft compound and they seemed to find grip where the diamonds don't but they were too small (coming off the disco) and had to go!
