abs light
scooby:
My handbrake light and low level light is in red at the bottom light left handside of the dash board i knw this as i went through this a few weeks ago. But was told pads and abs light was in one.
stageonesimmo:
ABS lamp will be amber as its got a safe mode and so you can still drive with it lit. Brake wear/handbrake lamp is red as you should stop and investigate with it lit.
Range Rover Blues:
I think the ABS light has to be on it's own, IIRC.
Does the Disco have the same instruments as the soft dash RRC, if so then I think it is, TBH I don't pay much attention but the ABS light is top centre and ther TC light top right. No idea where the brake pad warning is.
mickelson:
if the light on your dash is red then get it checked straight away, if it is amber then it is there as a warning that something has failed and you need to get it checked at the earliest opportunity. If the abs wng light is on whilst you are driving then you do need to get it checked. although abs circuits generally fail safe, ie, you still have braking without abs, i have discovered with having many faults on my abs that once the light is on you can get unusual brake applications when trying to stop . not quiet fail safe in the disco's case. it is very simple to check but you need to have half an hour or so to go through the process. there is a thread on this site posted some time ago where i got all my info from, if i can find it I'll post a link to it.
to cut a long story short, generally the fault will lie with one of the 4 sensors. either an open circuit in the sensor harness, or it isn't sitting correctly in its housing hence the gap between the end on the sensor and the teeth it picks up its pulse from is too big, or simply the sensor has failed. they are very easy to change but you do need to confirm the fault first as they are not cheap unless you can chance it with a second hand one. RANGE ROVER DO FIT as well as i currently replaced both my front 2 with range rover ones from a nice bloke off this forum.
