abs light

(1/3) > >>

scooby:
Just changed brake pads on my 96 disco and the abs goes of then comes back on and stays on.
It started to happen when the pads got low the other day. so replaced pads and thought light might go out.
But no it still does the same goes off then comes back on.
Is their anything i sjould look at r does it need to be rest as low pads. If so can you rest it yourself or does it have to go in to be done. Not sure thou if the abs light just come on the same time my pads went low. But i thought to myself that light also indectes its brake pads etting low. Apart from this light the car seems ok and as i say it only started to do this when pads were low.

Guardian.:
abs light or pad warning light coming on?

scooby:
It has the abs inside a round disc and shoes on the outside.
not sure if its the brake waring light as pads were low and this is the only light that come up.
But it is the abs light. not sure if it works both.
was told it was the abs light and that it could be a wire broken but was also take it in and have a fualt reader put on it.
but seems funny to come on and stayed on since the pads went low.

beast5680:
may be a sensor just wants looking at?

Range Rover Blues:
THE ABS light is not the same as the pad wear light.  There might also be a handbrake warning (notoriously dodgy things) and a low fluid level warning.  The handbrake and low fluid might be the same light, but a few things to check.

The ABS light should come on when you turn on the ignition and stay on until you have reached 5mph at which point it completes it's self-test.

If this light is the one coming on you need to do a blink test to determine what faults it has logged (and clear them) then rectify the fault and see if all is then well.

Common faults are sensors out of range, caused by muck in the sensor ring on the back, loose wheel bearings on any of the 4 wheels (though I'd guess at the front ones) or wiring faults inthe sensors or loom.

Sometimes you find the replacement sensors had a new length of loom because of faults in the loom itself.
