the price of gordon browns fuel
freelanderpx54:
The problem is who? The liberals will tax our vehicles at a £1000 a year and make the price of fuel prohibitive. The Cons ervatives will rehash labour policies and we will end up with a version of the Thatcher years. Labour can't get in again (we hope) so to go back to my original question Who?
Which political party is going to commit political suicide by bringing in policies that the majority want?
We all want a control on immigration, not the easy targets but a proper control.
We all want to rid the country of illegals, they are helping dilute the minimum wage as they will take whatever is offered.
We all want a decent Health Service - but is this at the cost of not treating smokers/drinkers/fat people - don't forget, it doesn't take much to make you medically obese.
We all want a decent Armed force - how do we pay for it?
But best of all, if this is the United Kingdom, why is it that the Welsh and Scots get free prescriptions and their Council Tax charges capped but those of us living in England still have to pay

I do get bored about all these that turn round and say, the tax has to come from somewhere (no this isnt aimed at you mr Mod :) )
But look, taxed have gone up signifivcantly, yes we dont get some of the creative taxes other places get but we get a lot of crafty stealth taxes others dont.
And what do we get? The road network is crumbling, councils cut corners doing repairs etc and yet still have to ask for more money. The NHS is fast becoomming a joke, as is our education systems. Meanwhile companies like Capita and co are paid billions to provide projects that are ill advidsed and dont work. And the waste of money on things we just DONT want.
Milennium dome springs to mind. O2 must be laughing over that. ID cards, Millions wasted on consultation and now the main players are walking away saying its unworkable, but they'll try, and itll fail. How many Million into Northern Rock? Or what about 2012, 2 years in and the budget has already doubled!
Thats just the ones I can think of off the top of my head, there are hundreds more.

I agree.
How is it that inflation is supposed to be only around 2.5% ???
They base their arguement on a massive "shopping trolley" full of stuff like PCs, sat navs, digital cameras, large screen TVs etc... all of which have massively reduced in price over the last year or so ... as every new-fangled gizmo does once it's mass produced.... the normal day to day items in the trolley are increasing day by day.... but the average cost of the trolley doesn't increase by the same amount.
I reckon real inflation is around 10-12% at least... any thoughts on this theory ?
End of rant, time to hit the sack !
