kizz81:
what i am failing to understand is just where this money is going, i sit at school in classrooms with barely any paint on the walls and where half the lights dont work, and the resurfaced the road just around the corner less than a year ago and now its falling apart made from such cheap materials
gas has gone up somthing like 26% in the midlands
electricbluebadger:
Dont forget tax has to come from somewhere and although Im no fan of taxation as im running on veg oil Im much much happier to have high tax on fuel rather than have the income tax levels seen in places like germany... that would cripple me...
eg.....
In addition to the personal taxation rate of up to 42%. There is also a "solidarity surcharge" of 5.5%, which contributes to the costs of reintegration of the country. The corporate tax rate is being reduced to 25%. and additional provincial taxes may be levied but these are apparently due to be abolished but federal tax increased to balance..
In addition to personal income tax, there are a large number of different types of tax in Germany including sales taxes, automobile tax, inheritance tax, property tax and church tax.
Value Added Tax is payable at 16% on most purchases, and at a reduced rate of 7% on some items such as food and books. Additional sales taxes are payable on a number of products including alcohol and tobacco, tea and coffee and gasoline.
Residents who are officially affiliated with one of Germany's established churches are required to pay a church tax of around 8% of their salary. Without such an affiliation, it may not be possible to use the church for services such as marriage, baptism or burial.
Seems you are pretty much screwed wherever you live unless you can afford a nice tax haven... maybe we could declare LRBoards an internet country (similar to an internet only company) declare ourselves a tax haven and screw the UK :)
and as for fuel dont forget as well oil has now gone to over $100 a barrell :O, way up on what it has been...... still doesnt totally explain Chievely services low sulphur crap being £1.16 a litre tother day
Cheers Steve
The Smiths:
