Sharpshooter:

Sure I've read about one incident where someone did that. Highly illegal of course, and would show up on the tacho, but that never stops some people!
The scary ones here used to be the 7.5 tonners operated by Hippo Campo (frozen foods) - the number of times I had one of them tailgating me at 60mph. What they didn't seem to have twigged was that trying to bully a Disco out of the way is a bit of a non-starter, plus I left them standing on hills and twisty bits. ;D

Your right in one sence. You did used to be able to pull the fuse. As the govenor is driven from the tacho drive. But nowa-days with digital tacho's im not so sure.
7.5 tonners arnt governed. Thats why they are always up your but on the motorway.
But they still arnt allowed in the outside lane.
I was coming down the M20 a couple of weeks ago. In front were three foreign Artics, one in each lane, all doing the same speed, all bar 1/2mph overtaking each other. I had to wait about 5 mins to pass. :-X :-X :-X :-X :-X :-X :-X :-X

i think all 7.5tonns on a 57 plates are now stuck at 56mph as they come under the new driving laws
gtomo2:
yea they should be restrict to 60mph now and are not allowed in the three lane of the motorway

Nearly right.
We have a number of 7.5 ton vehicles at work, the oldest being 04 plate and they are all restricted.
The difference in the 04 plates and the 57 plates are that the 04 have the old style tachos with a paper disc and the 57 plates have the electronic card type.
They are all restricted and not allowed in the right hand lane on a motorway with more than two lanes.
mobi:
we have 52 plate 7.5 tonners that are restricted and we have 56 plates thats aren't, the law states that the older ones had to be restricted before the newer ones (thats the government for you) i "think" it's april before they all have to be restricted
as for the arctic doing over 56mph, it's not just a case of pulling the fuse anymore, but there are ways around the limiter. but in not telling
