Disco-Ron:
I didn;t think any 200's had cats, the sure fire way to make sure it's a 200 engine and not a 300, is to look at the belt that runs the steering and alternator, if there are 2 'V' belts, it's a 200, if the belt goes all over the place, and is flat-ish, then it's a 300.....
And if the exhaust ends by the tranfers box, unless it sticks out the side of the truck, i would seriously consider changing it.... there's a good reason the exhaust is supposed to end at the outside/back of the vehicle.....  also, 'If' it is a cat, then thats alsmost certainly why it's slow, after-all, the exhaust is basically blocked!!

ben_haynes:
200's didnt have cats and only the later 300's did

as ron says the 300 has a single belt that runs round all the pullys

one other way to tell is, does it have an EGR valve with metal pipes between Exhaust and Inlet if it does then it is a 300

and it will fail an MOT if the exhaust does not exit the vehicle on the sides, top or back

i would remove the whole thing and fit a stainless system

Disco Matt:
I'd second the stainless exhaust suggestion - Double S make an excellent one that gets rid of the centre silencer (keeping the back box). It's fairly cheap, well made, sounds lovely and does seem to make the engine a bit more flexible at low revs (don't expect instant Saturn 5 performance, this is more a case of it not bogging down as easily). You will need another pipe to get rid of the cat though.

ben_haynes:
you can get a cat replacement pipe but i have never had a landy with a cat before

I need one of those - found out last week that I have a cat (didn't think I had one)! Anyone know a good cheap supplier?
