It depends a little on the year, but the original "in Vogue" was IIRC a special edition based on the 2 door Carb 3.5, with the 3-spoke alloys.

By the 90's you could have an EFi (poverty spec), a Vogue with electric mirrors and stuff, the Vogue SE (special equipment) onto which you could specify ABS/ABS&TC, EAS, AirConn, electric/Leather electric seats, sunroof and various ICE options.

There's not a huge difference between them that I'm aware of, but possible the SE had more sound insulation too.

Then the Vogue LSE had everything as standard.

The turning circle makes it a bit awkward for one, but it's quite capable. I only do gentle lanes though

It's more at home doing this.

so is mine a "Vouge" or an "in vouge" as it is a 1984, 3.5 carb, auto, 4 door, with 3 spoke alloys, cloth seats with arm rests on all seats, elec windows, elec mirrors, A/C.

It's as old as that

I might be wrong but the "in Vogue" was only a 2-door.  You can't guarantee that the wheels were OE fitment (check the hubs are the right ones for alloys :!: ).

But IIRC an in Vogue would have a small plaque next to the stereo.

I'd have to find the book and check, but in 1984 I think it would just have been a Range Rover, there wasn't much choice.

It might do yes, the only one I have to hand says Escort RS200 custom, which is the trum level too.

Depends then how good the dealer was.

ive got an 86 with electric mirrors etc etc and its just an 'efi'

until you go to vogue SE level the vogue tag didn't really mean much...you picked your options when you ordered it.

also bear in mind the bits on it may not be original...ive just sourced a replacement tailgate for my 92 and it says vogue se on the back but the rangie certainly aint a vogue se

Mines a vogue 3.9 on a '89. The insurance classes it as a vogue efi. Then you've got vogue se,(leather and more toys) then vogue lse ( ALL the toys, leather and if the bank would allow my name all over it !). What would the difference be offroad ? same chassis etc ???? Anybody else's spell check box a fraction too small to see what your checking ?

The main difference between a Vogue SE and a Vogue LSE is a little matter of 8 inches.

Suits you sir ;)

On the SE, special equipment I believe you could spec up any options you wanted, on the LSE you got them all whether you wanted them or not.

The "in vogues "i s slightly colllectable, but the Vogue is basically a GL, nothing special about it.

Hello guys,

I got a "Range Rover The First Generation" for Xmas and I qoute..............

"the first regular production Vogue models were announced in June 1984 and were distinguished from lesser types by their shaded alloy wheels and coloured bodystyle tapes. From then on all 4 door types would dispense with front quarter lights and have new mirors" end of quote.

To my knowledge the Vogue came some time after the "In Vogue" which was a gimmick to unload some old spec RR's.
The Vogue name became a popular choice and LR decided to stick with it.
So both model names are not to be confused with each other.

"In Vogue" models went on sale in February 1981.
The "In Vogue" model became a popular one so LR decided to bring out a newer model in 1985,
The "In Vogue" had run from '81 until '84 and from then on the new model came with the name of "Vogue"
Vogue being the falgship model for a long time.
cheers.
