Truckers Fuel Protest
Llanigraham:
Who are you going to protest about?
The government haven't increased their percentage of tax, so it's not their fault?
The petrol companies who are now paying 99 dollars a barrel as compared to 30 dollars 6 months ago?
Sorry but this would be pointless and will do no good what-so-ever. This is "market forces" and we can do very little about it.
Biodiesel-Bev:
Actually the government could do something about it if they really wanted to. 50P of very litre is road fuel duty, then there is 17.5% vat - they actually tax you twice for every litre because they charge vat on the 50ppl which is road fuel duty! Now that is greedy. :(kerching):
And dont forget that road fuel duty went up 2ppl in October, hey and guess what, it's going up again in April! What do you think the price per litre for diesel will be by then? £1.15? £1.20? £1.25? I'd wager that it will easily be £1.25 per litre.
However, as I don't use it....
Thrasher:
If they reduce the tax on fuel then they'll have to get it elsewhere :
Cigs? No
Alcohol? No
INCOME TAX? Oh yes.
Make your choice, get less in your pay packet to buy the cheaper fuel?
Sorry guys ... but this is market forces at work, not the govt, as pointed out elsewhere.
Biodiesel-Bev:
How about they don't give the £500 million to Israel that Gordon Brown announced the other week. :-k
How about them conceeding that, as fuel prices are so high, they're going to defer the road fuel duty increase in April?
What are the chances of that happening? A big fat no i'd say, because the government lie to you claiming that the high road fuel duty is a 'green' tax. If it's a green tax why do they still tax 'green' fuels such as biodiesel? Surely if they were REALLY bothered about people reducing their CO2 they would give the public more incentives to use green fuels, or public transport.
It's the same old argument that has been done to death on here and other forums. The government are theives, and they don't give a toss about your average Joe who'es cost of living, housing, mortgage, transport has gone up, way more than their wages. For example, the police have just had their pay rise amount announced - 2%! After tax that will work out about £7.50 per week! Even your postman got more than that!! [-X
The country is going to the dogs! :(bigangry):
Rant over. :x
skip:
If I could afford to leave the uk, I would be gone in a cloud of dust.
Trouble is I have to pay so much tax I've got no chance  Anyone see the irony in that??
