Truckers Fuel Protest
Terranger:
I know it's a touchy subject.., but don't you think fuel prices are getting out of hand?
I would've loved to join the last protest in my truck, and thought about it when I stayed Down South, but, was warned off by my boss at Christian Salvesen.
I would love to join in this one with my rangie, but after the reports of how the protesting Haulage Contracters were treated, albeit heresay, I don't want to lose the motor.
Trouble is, there has to be something done about the rising cost of fuel, and I for one am in full support of the fuel protesters.
No matter who is in charge of this country, they always take their lion's share, and it's not as if we know where that cash is syphoned off to.
Sorry folks, for spouting off, but I love driving my 4x4's, in all weathers, and I don't usually get involved in politics, but this subject is ticking me off big style.

Things do seem to be skyrocketing. I filled up the wife's Rover yesterday and realised, after queuing, that I was at the Premium Diesel pump. 110.9p per litre. It cost £46 to fill up... when we first got it a few years back it was just over 30.
It's hitting people pretty hard in the pocket, and surely it's only a matter of time before something flares up and the public join in. Given the government's not having a particularly good couple of weeks, if I was Gordon Brown I'd be a little worried right now.

Agreed, it may be a "Touchy" Subject but at the end of the day its going to start putting people out of business! end of

It's not just the Gov't greed though this time, not that I'm jumping to their defense in any way (if they hadn't got into power I would still have a decent job and be able to afford petrol)
But the underlying cause is the weakness of the dollar, so people are buying oil instead of dollars now, added to the greater demend in the far east, China and India to be specific. That demand will only ever grow and until those markets pay the same tax as we do they won't do anything about it.
It's funny to me how the USA are really complaining about the price of fuel now, as they were never taxed the way we are.
Anyhoo, I do remeber hearing that the way Gov't taxes refineries they could actually reduce the tax on fuel at the pumps when the price of crude rises without loosing out.
But with a price rise of what, 15pence a litre in the space of 6 months, it can't go on can it :(

Frankly my dear I don't give a.....
Given the way people burn fosil fuels without a second though a financial pich may help to get them thinking about how they use/waste it, though I doubt it :(
Yes I drive a V8, but I'm far more concerned about the rover which guzzles far more fuel given the way its used.
