Cyclist killed on A1

<< < (3/3)

Pete:
Quote from the Huddersfiels Examiner article.

"He had been measuring out a course for a time trial race."

  On the A1 ?
  Pete.

Mash:
I regulary work on that stretch of road...and it beggars belief what the hell a cyclist is doing on there....

My first thoughts on getting a job on the A1 is how bloody quick can I get the casulty vehicle and its occupants ot a safe location and me off this damm race track.....

People in general have absolutely no idea how dangerous these places are.. Quite often when we arrive to a broken vehicle the occupants will spill out of their car and come wandering up to us before we have even opened the door   like they are in some car park or other...

I understand the comment that fudge makes but surely self presevation should kick in first and they can surely see that this a a dangerous place to be .....

The stupidness of people never ceases to amaze me..Sorry it may sound harsh but.........

I've driven on that part, but not ridden it.
I have however ridden the A1 in the past between Ripon & Brotherton (when it was all dual-carriageway), but admittedly only on a Sunday, so the traffic's a bit lighter.

I still use a short section of the A1 on a regular training route. It's from FerryBridge to Brotherton, hence only literally 400yards.

Now that the new (Ferrybridge interchange*)'bypass' has opened, you could almost have a picnic in lane 2 there

* The junction between the A1 & the M62. It was quite possibly the busiest roundabout outside of the M25.

Range Rover Blues:
Isn't that whole section being upgraded to motorway standard as we speak?
