300Tdi Auto vs manual: really 5mpg difference !!??!!
Mark_Solesbury:
Not related, but whos is the Durman Stearn van?
They had the contract for the estate my house is on in Rushden.
Guardian.:
what i wanna know is how you lot get over 30mpg out of a tdi not got any now andprobably wont have another but ive had more than most over the years and if i got 25mpg out of it i though id had it right off!
before you all say this that end everything else, a few were brand spankers some were a couple of years old and some old dogs, but, all did around 24/25mpg.
as a matter of interest, what are those of you with 3.9v8's getting.?
Range Rover Blues:
Firstly I think the fat controller can engage smug mode, that's a very economical TDi, isn't it? I suppose doing a constant 55mph will help though but are you slipstreaming a truck
Julie's TDi was regularly doing 25 mpg, I'm still waiting to see what it does now it's had the top end rebuilt, it's alomost done the miles it would on a full tank and there's still some left, so it's definitely better but I don't know how much yet.
Jane's is also better, that's had a new head, but again I don't know by how much. On her V8 she'd recon to get maybe 16 on petrol and 12 on LPG IIRC.
Personally I can't afford to use petrol for long enough to work it out but my LSE will do 12 on LPG if I'm careful.
The Fat Controller:
David if some ones in the kettles on
i travel on first the 142 then the 141.my avtar shows kwik-fits car park Huntingdon
the transit is driven by the bloke 2 doors away
i don't tailgate on the roads,i'm the one people overtake because there's a large gap between me and the car in front.
i travel at this speed as then i don't have to brake and can normaly make the round abouts without slowing down
the discovery now has over 179000 miles on the clock
Wireless:
Average LPG 17mpg, Average Unleaded 18mpg
Best on LPG 19mpg", Best on Unleaded 21mpg^
Worst LPG 9.5mpg*, Worst Unleaded 12mpg#
* - Motorway towing Sheep Trailer that I couldn't get over 50mph, hence torque converter couldn't lock up!
# - Town driving when local LPG supply was unavailable.
" - Long motorway journey at constant 60mph.
^ - Mixed country roads and motorway.
Like Range Rover Blues, I can't really afford or want to do long motorway journeys on Unleaded, so can't verify the 27mpg that the manual claims for a constant 56mph.
